Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Lifeplanr ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lifeplanr. By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, effective as of March 8, 2026.
2. Description of Service
Lifeplanr is a life planning progressive web application (PWA) that helps you visualize, plan, and organize your life. The Service includes features such as:
- Life Calendar: an interactive visualization of your life in years, months, and weeks
- Journal & Diary: a private journaling tool for recording thoughts, memories, and reflections
- Finance & FIRE Planning: financial tracking and planning tools, including FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) calculations
- Travel Planner: tools for planning and documenting your travels
- Health & Habits Tracking: features for monitoring health metrics and building habits
- People & Relationships: a way to track important people in your life and your relationships
- Budget Planner: tools for creating and managing personal budgets
- Themes & Customization: visual customization options for personalizing your experience
The Service is provided as a web application accessible through modern web browsers and can be installed as a PWA on supported devices.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. Account registration is handled through Google OAuth (Google Sign-In). By registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during the registration process
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Promptly notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account and use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
4. Free and Pro Tiers
Lifeplanr offers two service tiers:
Free Tier includes access to:
- Life Calendar (years, months, and weeks views)
- Journal & Diary with mood tracking
- Life Phases & Events (12 categories)
- People & Relationships with birthday tracking
- 7 beautiful themes
- Data export (JSON)
- Offline support (PWA)
Pro Tier includes everything in the Free Tier, plus:
- Cloud sync across devices
- Travel Planner & interactive world map
- Finance Tracker & FIRE calculator
- Health & Habits tracking with streaks
- Budget Planner with custom categories
- Household sharing
- Photo attachments (10 per entry)
- Multi-calendar support
- Priority support
Pro is available in two billing plans:
- Pro Monthly: $4.90 per month, billed monthly
- Pro Yearly: $39 per year (equivalent to $3.25/month — save 34%)
Both plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to start the trial. We reserve the right to modify the features included in each tier at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of any changes that materially reduce the functionality of your current tier.
5. Subscription & Payments
Pro subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose). All payments are processed securely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor.
- Billing: your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date
- Free trial: new users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all Pro features. No payment information is required during the trial. If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, you will be reverted to the Free tier
- Price changes: we may change subscription prices from time to time. Any price changes will apply to the next billing cycle after notice is provided
- Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we may suspend access to Pro features until payment is successfully processed. We will attempt to notify you before any suspension
Stripe's own terms and privacy policy govern the processing of your payment information. We do not store your full payment card details.
6. User Content & Data Ownership
You own all of your data. Any content you create, upload, or store through the Service — including journal entries, calendar data, financial records, travel plans, health data, and any other personal information — remains entirely yours.
- We claim no ownership, intellectual property rights, or license over your content
- We will not use your content for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the Service to you
- You can export all of your data at any time in standard, machine-readable formats
- You can delete your data and account at any time
By using the Service, you grant us only the limited, technical permissions necessary to store, process, and display your content back to you (and to household members you have explicitly invited, if applicable).
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to access the Service in a manner that exceeds normal use
- Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or any other harmful technology
- Use the Service to store or transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without our written consent
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably determine that you have violated these acceptable use terms.
8. Local Storage & Cloud Sync
By default, all your data is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. This means your data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Local-only mode: your data is stored in your browser and is only accessible on the device where it was created. We have no access to locally stored data
- Cloud sync (opt-in): if you choose to enable cloud sync, your data will be stored in our cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud via Firebase) in addition to your local device. Cloud sync allows you to access your data across multiple devices
- Data loss: if you use local-only mode, clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app will result in permanent loss of your data. We are not responsible for data loss in local-only mode
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data, especially when using local-only mode. We recommend enabling cloud sync or regularly exporting your data to prevent data loss.
9. Household Shared Data
The household feature allows you to share selected data with family members or other people you invite to your household group. By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for the data you choose to share with your household
- All household members can view shared data that has been made available to the household
- You should only share data that you are comfortable making visible to all members of your household
- Each household member is responsible for their own use of shared data
- When a member leaves or is removed from a household, they will no longer have access to household shared data
We are not responsible for how household members use or share data that has been made available to them through the household feature.
10. Intellectual Property
The Lifeplanr name, logo, branding, visual design, user interface, source code, and all related intellectual property are owned by Lifeplanr and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying technology without our express written permission
- You may not use the Lifeplanr name, logo, or branding in any way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our written consent
- All trademarks, service marks, and trade names used in the Service are the property of their respective owners
Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use the Lifeplanr brand, trademarks, or other intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the Service as intended.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with and relies on certain third-party services. By using Lifeplanr, you acknowledge that these third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google Cloud): used for authentication, cloud data storage, and sync. Subject to Firebase Terms of Service
- Stripe: used for payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Terms of Service
- Google Fonts: used for typography. Subject to Google's Terms of Service
We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms.
12. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- We do not warrant that any data stored through the Service will be preserved, accurate, or available at all times
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service
- Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain types of damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service, with or without notice, for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of these Terms of Service
- Conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties
- Prolonged inactivity (we will provide notice before terminating inactive accounts)
- Non-payment of subscription fees (for Pro accounts)
- Legal or regulatory requirements
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If your account is terminated, we will make reasonable efforts to allow you to export your data before deletion, unless the termination is due to illegal activity or a legal requirement that prevents us from doing so.
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from the app's settings.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Effective date" at the top of this page
- Notify you via an in-app notification or email (if you have an account)
- Provide at least 30 days' notice before material changes take effect
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Norway. Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation.
